If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join Local London as a Peer Mentor within our new Peer Mentoring Programme, funded by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP.)

• Location: Hybrid – Home/ Lynton House, Ilford, with travel across the Local London sub-region
• Salary: £43,680 - £45,750 per annum
• Role type: full-time, fixed term contract until March 2027, with possible 2 year extension.

Local London has secured funding from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to deliver an innovative Peer Mentoring Programme across the sub-region, supporting residents experiencing drug and/or alcohol dependency to overcome barriers and progress towards employment, training and other positive outcomes.

As a Peer Mentor, you will use your lived experience of recovery to build trusted, non-judgemental relationships with residents facing multiple and complex challenges. Through one-to-one support, you will help people build confidence, access services, achieve personal goals and take positive steps towards recovery, independence and employment.

Working alongside Jobcentre Plus, treatment providers, local authorities, health services and community organisations, you will play an important role in creating a joined-up support network that helps residents achieve lasting change.

What you’ll be doing:

• Building trusted relationships with residents and providing one-to-one peer mentoring support.
• Supporting participants to identify goals and develop personalised action plans.
• Connecting people to treatment, health, housing, employment and community support services.
• Encouraging and motivating individuals to overcome barriers and make positive changes.
• Working collaboratively with local partners to ensure residents receive joined-up support.
• Keeping accurate records and contributing to programme outcomes and continuous improvement.

Who we are looking for:

We're looking for someone who has lived experience of recovery from drug and/or alcohol dependency and is passionate about using that experience to help others.

You'll be an empathetic and resilient individual who can build trust, motivate people and support individuals facing complex challenges. You'll have strong communication skills, be comfortable working with a range of professionals and be committed to helping residents achieve positive outcomes.

Experience of mentoring, supporting or working with vulnerable adults would be beneficial, but most importantly we are looking for individuals who can use their lived experience in a positive, professional and inspiring way.
