Employer Engagement Sector Hubs

Our new Employer Engagement Sector Hub will make it simpler for employers across our sub-region to access the skills, training and recruitment support they need, while helping residents into good jobs and to progress in work.

What will the Employer Engagement Sector Hubs do?

The Greater London Authority (GLA) is setting up sector hubs across London to give employers a single front door into London's skills and training system. The hubs will help ensure London has a consistent, responsive skills offer that is rooted in sector needs and local opportunity.

With funding from the GLA, each of London's four sub-regional partnerships, including Local London, is creating a sub-regional hub to support local delivery. These hubs will:

  • Bring together employers, training providers and service provision across the Local London nine boroughs.
  • Offer small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) a direct route to support with recruitment and training needs.
  • Shape training provision using local labour market insight.
  • Connect residents to training and good jobs through targeted programmes.
  • Respond to the priorities of the Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP).

How will these hubs work?

Our Employer Engagement Sector Hub team will work with both SMEs and larger employers across our nine boroughs (Barking and Dagenham, Bexley, Bromley, Enfield, Greenwich, Havering, Newham, Redbridge and Waltham Forest) to support upskilling, access to jobs and in-work progression.

We will simplify access to skills provision, recruitment support, training pathways and local brokerage services, so businesses don't need to navigate multiple programmes, funding streams or organisational boundaries.

Our priority sectors

Evidence suggests the following sectors have the strongest growth momentum in our sub-region, and are where coordinated employer engagement can make the biggest difference:

  • Construction.
  • Health and social care.
  • Creative industries.

Digital and green jobs are set to play an important role in our sub-region, so these will be part of our focus across all sectors. Other sectors remain important to our boroughs, and we will continue to support them through our wider programmes.
