NEET Trailblazer

Launched in March 2026, our new Youth Trailblazer programme is supporting young people at risk of becoming NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training).

Our NEET Trailblazers programme will actively engage with at-risk students to give them the help they need to progress confidently into post‑16 learning, employment or training. The programme will provide a further 3-6 months support once they are there.

Overview

Nationally there are around one million young people who are NEET, around 125,000 of those are in London.

Local London has been awarded £500,000 through the Greater London Authority for this programme as part of the pan‑London Youth Trailblazer initiative.

The programme will run until March 2027, and will support around 300 Year 11 learners from selected schools, including mainstream settings, alternative provision and PRUs, with a focus on improving young people’s transitions into post‑16 pathways and reducing NEET levels.

How will it work?

Our team will work with school leaders and multi‑agency partners, to support students with identified risk factors, such as:

  • low attendance in school,
  • faced exclusions,
  • have SEND needs,
  • have mental health challenges
  • socio‑economic pressures.

Through the programme we will provide tailored support including:

  • parental engagement,
  • mentoring,
  • guidance on post‑16 pathways, including further education and apprenticeships.
